What a surprising pleasure these little guys were to paint. The came to me as slightly rotten and in some cases featureless looking lumps of old lead, but have painted up a treat!

Droopy Pipe Slann

Whichever part of the jungle these guys has been in previous to landing on my painting desk they contracted mild lead-rot and a case of droopy blow pipe. Both conditions are eminently fixable if you know a good Pygmy Witch Doctor of course.

In the background of the priming shot you can see the Coldone Riders enjoying their final night in the Dettol bath. Looks like the paint is going to slough off rather pleasingly!
The second photo highlights the organised chaos on my painting desk........apologies.
Given the fact that this is a unit of 10 but there are only 3 sculpts, I wanted to have a device by which I could add some visual interest. For this reason I decided to paint the majority in orange tones but have 4 of the unit in a contrasting shade. Originally this had been a teal that I had mixed but I have gradually shifted this to a blue/jade as this gives them a slightly otherworldly feel which fits the fluff for Slann.
The only real problem I had with these models was the feathers on the back of the "Brave Leader" sculpt. These really are featureless misshapen lumps of lead with very little similarity to a feather so I have tried to texture them as best I could.
